Meet Our Director
Dr. Jeanine Skinner

Dr. Jeanine Skinner is a native of Anderson, South Carolina. Growing up in a small town gave foundation and confidence to her emerging musical proclivities.  During the early years of making music in the community, Jeanine seized each opportunity to perform, accompany, entertain, teach, or create music.  Once completing her degrees, Dr. Skinner held a variety of college positions (6 actually). At these schools, she taught piano and organ, piano literature, piano pedagogy, music theory and ear training, form and analysis, world music, and music appreciation.  The opportunity to perform and travel as a faculty accompanist nationally and internationally was an enriching experience. In 2003, Jeanine relocated to Wake Forest and became aware of limited piano teaching in the area.  In August, she established Music Academy South, and her entrepreneurial spirit was unleashed!  The school has enjoyed two expansions (2005 and 2016), over 100 recitals and presentations, an average of 260 students per year, and a curated roster of talented teachers and staff. This owner is proud of her teachers, her administrative staff, and the very important families and students that engage in weekly lessons.  Living in Wake Forest, making music and teaching, has offered a very satisfying way of life.
