Alex McKeveny - Piano
Alex McKeveny is a pianist and composer from Raleigh. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music with concentrations in piano and composition from UNC-Chapel Hill. Recently, he completed a Master’s degree in Music Business at Berklee College of Music. He has been teaching in Raleigh for five years.
Alex began his musical journey at age 5 and has been playing the piano ever since. His passion for composing started at 13, and he continues to create works for various instruments, often winning composition competitions, including the RPTA Young Artist Auditions (2014), the NCMTA (2015), and the Thelma Thompson Composition Award through the UNC Department of Music in 2020. He was commissioned to compose music for Arts Everywhere and for Compose Carolina, a summer series made possible by a partnership between the UNC Department of Music and Carolina Performing Arts. His credits also include debuting an original work with the UCD Composition Ensemble in Dublin, Ireland, during his time in a study abroad program.
Alex finds working with young musicians rewarding and challenging and looks forward to the opportunity to work at MAS. His interest in inspiring creativity and developing skills is a key long-term goal for his students. Outside of music, Alex enjoys spending time with his fiancé, playing board games, and hiking in the Raleigh Area.
